Finding Documents

There are four ways to search for documents:

  1. Search by category will display all documents for that category, e.g. 1881 Census
  2. Search by word/phrase will display all documents that contain the word/phrase in the document description. Be sure to not enclose the word/phrase in quotation marks.
  3. Search by the document ID will display the particular document. The document ID must consist of the family identifier and document number. For example document 12 in the Johnson family would be J12, not simply 12.
  4. Search by person ID will display all documents related to that person.

Items related to the families of Guy Johnson (17), Florence Marian Andrade (313), Norman Alexander Hall (162), and Gertrude Garnett (443) following their respective marriages may be located under any one of the families. For example, a document that includes members of the Johnson and Hall families will be included in either the Johnson or Hall family but not both. Therefore, when looking for documents  created after 1900 it is a good idea to check all families.

The Document ID can be found in the Search Results or on the person page.
