Pedigree of 'Hall' on Spring Roller - Document H76PDF

In 1907, Douglas Hall had his father's, Bernard Hall (1813-1890) , family traced back professionally through nine generations to Richard Hall of Castern-in-Ilam (d: 1506).

A 'tree' of those nine generations was copied onto a 'spring roller' chart but sadly the 'spring roller' chart was destroyed. However, Douglas had most of his researcher's original source material for the 'tree' meticulously copied into a book, "Pedigree of 'Hall' on Spring Roller" which has survived.

The Hall and Wardle families are connected through the marriage of Patrick Bernard Hall (204) and Diana Baddeley (625) in 1954. Edward's original sketch is Document H202.

Mr. Bernard Hall was for many years a member of the Liverpool Town Council as an alderman and also as mayor 1879-80, the year Liverpool became a city.

For more than half a century he was one of the most prominent merchants in the West India Trade.

Among others, he was the chairman of the Queen Insurance Company and a director of the Callao Dock Company, of the West India Pacific Steamship Company, Limited, and of the Chester Boat Company, Limited.

He was also owner of a large sugar plantation in Jamaica.
