Passenger List  had a lengthy passenger list. on one in 1923 Ben landed in Vancouver, BC, Canada on the ship "Makura" stated he had landed in Vancouver before and that he could read, speak, and write other languages including French and Tamil.

- was several times appointed Colonial Secretary of Ceylon and at one time served as Governor.
- He was awarded the C.H.G. in 1921 in recognition of his service.

- he fell from a high balcony in his home so I am told by Esther Horsburgh.
